In order to engage our community during these warmer summer days, BACA is hosting a sidewalk chalk art contest. We are asking that interested kids, etc., grab their chalk, find a spot on their sidewalk (or roadway, driveway, etc.) and go to town with a design. it doesn't have to be fancy, or big, so it's open to everyone. Since we can't be everywhere, we are suggesting you take a picture and send it to us with the name of the artist(s) and a street address so we can check it out later on.
The sidewalk contest has been extended to the end of Aug to give our vacationing residents a bit more time to get their chalk and artistic abilities together... take a photo of your art and send it to us and let us know where it is.
• Eligibility: The contest is open to all ages.
• Chalk Only: Only non-toxic, washable sidewalk chalk is allowed. No spray paint, markers, acrylics, or oil-based materials may be used. Only use non-toxic, biodegradable chalk products to minimize environmental impact.
• Original Work: All artwork must be original.
• Family Friendly: All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing.
• Size: There are no maximum and minimum size requirements, but you can’t encroach on the neighboring artwork to make yours bigger.
• A panel of judges will evaluate the artwork. Entries will be judged on originality, overall impact, use of color, technical skill, and creativity.
• Awards: Prizes may be awarded in categories such as Best Overall, Best Interpretation of Theme, Best Technique, Most Creative, Best Youth/Adult/Team Entry, and more. Prizes may include certificates, gift cards, art supplies, or sponsored items.
• Announcement: Winners and their art will be posted on our sites at the conclusion of the event.
• Clean-Up: Artists are responsible for cleaning their area at the end of the contest. All trash and materials must be disposed of properly.
• Participants are strongly encouraged to take photos of their artwork and send it to the organizers (BACA) complete with a street address.
• Social media: You are encouraged to share your experience and artwork on social media. Please use the official event hashtag #BACArt and tag the organizing group where possible.
• Plan your design in advance and, if possible, sketch it on paper before the contest.
• Remember, chalk art is temporary—enjoy both the process and the fleeting beauty of your creation!
For questions, concerns, accessibility needs, or special accommodation requests, please contact the contest organizers via the BACA website or email address.

The Bel Air community is located on the traditional unceded , unsurrendered territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin People. The Algonquin People have inhabited and cared for these lands long before today. We take this time to show our gratitude and respect to them, and to the land for all that it provides us: trees to give shade, water and food to sustain us, and paths to connect us. Within our community , we embrace the responsibility to help ensure that the next generations of land stewards are respectful and grateful for the bounty of this land on which we all live, work, play, and study.
